Acceptable Recyclable Materials:
Recycling containers are provided at the township maintenance complex for the use of township residents. The containers are available daily from dawn until dusk. The containers are scheduled to be emptied three times a week. Residents are encouraged to recycle the materials listed to the left and keep them out of the landfill. It is very rewarding to see the volume of materials being recycled by Portage Township residents. Recycling positively affects the environment in a number of ways. |
Please, only bring the recyclable materials listed above. Styrofoam is not recyclable! Plastic bags can be recycled at many retail outlets in the area but are not acceptable at the township recycle bins. And please collapse all corrugated containers. An empty cardboard box can consume an excessive amount of space in the bins if it is not folded down flat. NO GARBAGE. Servelience cameras are on dumpsters 24/7. Residents are encouraged to watch the township newsletter or contact the Ottawa-Seneca-Sandusky Joint Solid Waste District (OSS) at 1-888-850-7224 for additional recycling opportunities. The township recycling dumpster is provided through OSS grant money as a service for the residents of the township. The service is not intended for commercial by-products, even if they are recyclable. Any commercial ventures generating large amounts of recyclable material are encouraged to contact the Ottawa-Seneca-Sandusky Joint Solid Waste District at 1-888-850-7224. |
